The blue chip company posted earnings of 9 cents a share, or $94 million, as well as earnings from continuing operations of 9 cents a share (excluding “special items,” continuing earnings were 10 cents a share.) This was better than Street estimates, which saw a loss of 4 cents a share. Last year, the company posted a first-quarter loss of $191 million.
